What can our F&B leaders do to make a difference in senior living?
Over my career in senior living, I have found that there is a lot of "we do it that way because that's what's always worked". But as we have all seen over the past couple of years, old thinking will get us stuck in the mud (or worse). Why are we constantly thinking that repeating ourselves will make things better? 🤔
There is no better place for innovation and disruption than in F&B. And the irony of it is that as we start looking at the people we are selling to, the market is very different. We have to look at different ways to make ourselves relevant not only to prospects, but to their families, our employees, our applicants, and honestly the general population that only envisions tired nursing homes when the hear the words "senior living".
"But our senior leadership is focused on X".
Cool. Then find a way to innovate and be disruptive without them. When it works, they'll buy in.
"We don't have the budget for that."
Nope. Disruption and innovation can start small and grow. You don't always need more money to be creative.
"I don't have time for another thing."
Sorry. Find the thing that you should be delegating or just not doing and replace it.
It's time for us to put in the work and become those agents of change. Foodies have always had to do more with less. So why should this be any different? This is why I'm sure that we can be the ones that will help lead the needed perception change. Come be a part of the fun. 😎
